During the visit to BMI Federal Credit Union, HSA students had a really great time learning Finance 101. Students created a profile sheet that they utilized throughout the game to create a budget for when making financial decisions. Each student worked in pairs to create a budget for their household. There were 6 Budget Stations that represented a different category in their monthly plan.
Each student received a ledger and instructions on what to do, "When Life Happens." Each station included an activity where had to pay an expense, or had to deposit additional funds into their Credit Union account.
Afterwards, the students analyzed their work and discussed. During the discussion, the students realized the ultimate goal was for them to have money remaining in their savings and checking account, as well as pay down or eliminate their credit card debt. HSA really enjoyed learning about Finance 101!
