LTLWA is celebrating another successful field trip to Turner Construction with students from Groveport-Madison High School! During the visit, students had the unique opportunity to tour the Meta facility, where their uploaded photos on popular platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, etc., are stored. Built in 2018, this Meta facility was constructed in New Albany, Ohio; Meta is known as Facebook's parent company. According to NBC reports, "the latest additions to the five-building campus will bring its total investment in Ohio to $1.5 billion, will support 300 jobs once complete, and increase the number of construction workers on site from 1,200 to 1,800 for years to come."
The students enjoyed the on-site experience, actively engaging during presentations delivered by Meta's leadership team. The leaders shared insights into their educational backgrounds, investments, opportunities with Meta and future plans for the company. Our goal is to connect students with the construction industry, and we take pride in witnessing students' engagement, through their thoughtful questions and eagerness to learn.
The students also collaborated on a project, forming their own construction company name, determining what to build and concluding on the building's purpose. We are excited and congratulate the winners of the competition, Demar Chavis and Zyon Brown, who conceptualized a hospital! Their wining project recognized the universal need for a hospital everywhere. We are very appreciative of Turner Construction and we look forward to future collaborations. Thank you for a wonderful experience and we look forward to future endeavors!
