Cornerstone High School Celebrates Their Graduating Marching Wolves

Updated: Nov 1

Tuesday, October 29, 2024

The Cornerstone Academy Marching Wolves took to the field for the last time this 2024 school year, marching to both school anthems and popular tunes. Family, friends, and the Cornerstone Academy community smiled and cheered as the sun sank past the trees, marking the end of an exciting (and occasionally trying) season.

For seniors like Marvelous (a Lead The Way youth), this was her final high school marching experience. After the performance, Marvelous commented on her past four year in band and that “[the band] gets a lot of different personalities that can clash at times, but it’s been really fun for performances… [the students] know how to get serious.” Despite almost half of the band being first-time “rookie” players this year, the Marching Wolves proved their devotion to both their teammates and musicianship. Tuesday’s performance followed months of learning, rehearsing, and discovering new skills.

Senior Lauretta used this marching season to hone her conducting skills, auditioning for Drum Major along with fellow Senior, Jacey. Lauretta reflected on how her peers having supported one another since the beginning saying, “Standing up on the podium for the last time made me realize that these past four years have been spectacular. I’ve loved seeing the growth of the marching band. We’ve had great performances and not so great performances, but at the end of the day, the band’s a great community.” Words like family and support have bounced around Cornerstone Academy’s band room since the start of the school year, showing that when students come together for a common goal, they thrive.

Like Lauretta and Marvelous, a number of graduating seniors saw the end to a major accomplishment and used this performance to say goodbye. Awards in leadership were given to seniors Maddie, Finn, and Lauretta, along with a “Most Improved” award to junior Sarah.

We at Lead The Way and Inspireducation would like to congratulate all of our 12th graders in the “Senior Advisory” class on their hardworking and dedication! Congratulations Mia, Finn, Roberto, Maddie, Aiden, Jacey, Olivia, Marvelous, and Lauretta!
