Lead The Way Learning Academy had the opportunity to attend Columbus City Schools Programs & Partnerships Expo. While speaking with the staff of the district, we ran into one of our enrolled youth, Eli Hurt, as one of the vendors. Eli Hurt was promoting his very own business, Youth M.I.C., which serves at-risk youth and he is the lead DJ.
Youth M.I.C. provides a safe space for teens to enjoy art activities, facilitated by local artists, where they combine art, mindfulness and mentorship. Youth M.I.C. boosts self-esteem, enhances problem solving skills, builds connection and community, decreases anxiety, increases ability to stay engaged, helps regulate emotions, teaches goal-oriented behavior and helps identify career goals.
We are extremely proud of Eli and look forward to working with him this school year at The Charles School. Way to go and keep up the great work!
